Happy Presidents’ Day! Today I am reminded of the many great men and women who have shaped our nation. No one is ever perfect nor without flaws. But we are where we are because of our past leaders. Take a moment and reflect on those Presidents who have had an impact on you.
Young and old love to receive a genuine note in the mail. It stands out past the advertisements and bills. It’s the envelope that you sit down for and carefully open in hopes of something wonderful. So . . . find your favorite pen and buy some stamps – some cute ones and yes, they are now 45 cents now, but the happiness a stamp will bring is priceless!
It’s funny. I use Goodreads all of the time. I’m always updating what books I’m reading and rating them. I love seeing what other people are reading and reviewing. So, I find it funny that it’s taken me three years to realize that I could be registered as a Goodreads author.
It actually started because I was looking up our books and couldn’t find The Celiac Kid on the Goodreads site. I then found out how to manually add the book and filled out all of the information. When I went to the new page it showed my names as illustrator. I clicked that link and low and behold it asked if it was me. Which, to be honest, I rather chuckled at. Anyway, to make a long story shorter, I registered and Stephanie registered as well. So as of this week we are official Goodreads authors.
If you haven’t rated or reviewed our books here are the links to get there: A Paper Hug, Operation: Celebration and The Celiac Kid. And, if you’re curious you can check out our author pages: Anneliese and Stephanie.
If you know a Veteran, tell them “Thanks!” We take everyday freedom for granted. Having recently read about some of the atrocities in WWII, I’m grateful for those who put their lives on the line so we can enjoy the freedom we have today.
Thank you to all those who have served!
Recently, my niece asked about my dad who served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. It opened up a flood of memories about him. He has been gone, now for over two years so the memories are very dear. He and his 5 other brothers believed in serving our country. Remember them this Veteran’s Day!

We were so lucky to be a part of the Kids Deployment Survival Kit put together by In the Know Mom. The kit included Hugs to Go, Daddy Dolls, Boo Boo Bear’s Mission, A Very Long Time, Readeo, Paper Chair, Chic Couture Boutique and a copy of all three of our books. It’s pretty awesome! If you get a chance go and check out the Kids Deployment Survival Kit. You could even have a chance of winning it.
This year we went out and saw The Healing Field in our city. There is a flag to represent every person lost during the September 11 tragedy. On each flag there was a card with information about the person it represented. It was an amazing and touching display.
